Organization

During the 1950's, requests were sent to the Lutheran church offices detailing a need for a Lutheran church in the Trenton area. Consequently, in 1959, the Rev. Franklin Jones was sent to Trenton to do some door to door calls. The first worship service was held on September 13, 1959 in room 131 of Trenton High School. St. Philip was officially organized as St. Philip Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 20, 1960 with Rev. Franklin Jones as our first pastor. The charter membership consisted of 72 adults and 69 children.
